Complete Job Training. After being accepted as a permanent employee of the USCIS, one must complete a six-week basic training program with the USCIS Academy. A prerequisite for FDNS immigration officer training can only be satisfied by completing this basic training.
Orientation: new employees attend sessions to learn about our agency, its history and mission, benefits, and other aspects of life at USCIS. Officer training: new immigration services officers, refugee officers, and asylum officers complete several weeks of residential training to prepare them for their careers.
They must also complete a week-long practicum course in Missouri and a week-long training program at a USCIS district office or service center. These programs teach new immigration services officers the skills needed to adjudicate applications and petitions.
Must possess a minimum of two Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (B.G.C.S.E) with grade C or above or equivalent. Trainee Immigration Officers maintain formal classroom setting for four months and on the job training for the remaining eight months. Clerks – A minimum of two B.G.C.S.E.
