Practically had the course to ourselves and walked the course in 3 hrs 55 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. Course conditions were well kept despite amount of play Bethpage gets. Course isn't long and flat for the most part. It's very walker friendly with wide fairways. A great course if players feel intimidated playing the Black or Red course.

BETHPAGE STATE PARK GOLF COURSES (BLACK) At one time, the Black was what public golf courses were like when we were kids, with hardpan fairways, crabgrass greens and pockmarked tees.
The Yellow Course is the “newest” of the Bethpage quintet, built mostly from scratch in 1958 by Alfred Tull, and partially from holdovers that survived the rerouting of A.W. Tillinghast’s original Blue Course. At 6,085 yards from the regular tees, Yellow is the shortest course of the five.
Joseph H. Burbeck & A.W. Tillinghast (1936)/Rees Jones (2015) Sprawling Bethpage Black, designed in the mid-1930s to be “the public Pine Valley,” became the darling of the USGA in the early 2000s, when it played the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Opens. Then it became a darling of the PGA Tour as host of the 2011 and 2016 Barclays.
Bethpage Red’s par 4’s varies from fair to notoriously long, the Red is in my opinion the most playable course for single digit handicappers. Challenging doglegs and bunkers on approaches into greens, the Red is a quality venue.
